Pretty Poringland

Budgens Poringland is probably the biggest Budgens i have ever seen. It looks like a a (small) supermarket. You know it has a car park and seems like it is pretty big, but in fact it's not THAT big.  Well anyway, it's bigger than one you might find in a local promenade.

Thanks Victoria for sending in this picture, it's nice to receive a picture from a more rural part of the UK and a good way to kick off the new year. Happy new year.

Poringland - Budgens

Now I agree with Victoria who says "a surprisingly large selection for a small supermarket". Yes, it is bigger than the smaller shops, but isn't the biggest we have seen from a reseller of this size.

Looking back to the previous Budgens, a shop that is a bit smaller had arguably a better range.

BUT, yes, BUT!

There are two things that I am absolutely loving about this arrangement!

  • Wrights Flour - top shelf in the centre, we know where that came from hey deb the bread ;)
  • A reduced sticker! - the first appearance in a flour arrangement, not that the value of flour should ever be reduced, but it is the first on the site.

On the other hand, there are items which are out of stock, which i am not a fan off.

Overall not a bad arrangement, but not great.

What a busy day

It's been a busy day with such lots of excitement that i thought I would give a quick update.

I am in Paris! due some some work commitments, I've to jumped on the euro-star and made that short... and badly delayed .. journey.

The tomorrow will be dictated by work that needs to be done, but I am hoping to get myself about and get some flour snaps :)

I also has a conversation with Mr G Rain, and the idea of trying to arrange a visit to Wrights Flour in north london. So, who is up for it? If we can arrange an outing (and assuming that "deb the bread" doesn't mind giving us a guided tour) to Wrights? either email me or comment and we'll try and arrange something.

The final excitement which urged me to write this entry is an email i got from Sam (who is based out in the Czech republic).  it's a doooozy. I'll look to upload it tomorrow.

Wright out of nowhere

Thanks to Deb the Bread for getting in touch and sending some glorious pictures of some large scale flour arrangements.

For those of you who don't know "Deb the Bread", I'd like you to question how much you really love flour, and why isn't she in your world.  Deb lives in the world of wright's flour and has been kind enough to send us some pictures.

Now check that arrangement. It's obvious they take arrangements seriously, though I have to wonder about that one stray pallet on the floor and not the shelf. hmm..

Deb The Bread was also kind enough to say that our flour lovers can "join our free club and be sent a free recipe booklet each year", you can find the sign up form here.

Here's another picture included in the email, of one proud professional arranger.

Sat on flour

Is it right to rate the flour arrangement? hell yeah.

I have a little experience of warehouse management, so I am defiantly in a position to judge.

Quantities look good, not too much, but enough to handle the flow of orders, and it looks like the range of flours are stocked.

It's super tidy and strong enough for a full grown man to sit on. what more can you want?

9/10 - it's not perfect, we're not forgetting that palette on the floor.
